The Earth Tire Foundation is not just about saving the environment, it's about helping the men and women who put it all on the line to preserve the freedom and liberty that we all enjoy, and maybe sometimes take for granted?
If we can generate enough commercial interest for our displays, from even a handful of national franchises, we can begin to plan our facility that would employ Veterans with different physical and emotional disabilities.
Professionals that we are currently consulting within the Veteran's Administration, as well as numerous agencies servicing our Veterans have told us that providing meaningful jobs to Vets is the single most positive factor in helping them assimilate back into the private sector.
The nature of the tasks involved are very artistic and creative. They also include manual dexterity of various skill levels that can be tailored to suit an individual's therapeutic needs, whether physical, emotional or more often than not, a combination of the two.
We are currently designing mobile, modular work stations that can ergonomically accommodate different disabilities and plan to have our workplace become a model of how Disabled American Veterans can be offered a job that is stimulating in a congenial environment, and be treated with the respect and dignity that they deserve.
Early concept prototype Earth Tire "Spinning Wheel" art console designed by Dr. Lans to allow a person in a wheel chair to have a comfortable work station. This design is for applications that require tread taping, tape cutting, tread painting and detail work. See pictures below where Dr. Lans demonstrates the gross and fine motor skills that can be regained and developed with the Earth Tire Rehabilitation philosophy.
In keeping with the Earth Tire's goal of saving the environment, note that this concept prototype is constructed out of a discarded dental stool, a discarded tire (obviously), scrap wood, and a left over Omaha Steaks shipping container. The wheel chair is courtesy of The Lake County Veterans Assistance Commission, on loan to help us develop and build our mobile modular workstations to hopefully accommodate Disabled American Veterans.

Dr. Lans demonstrates the console he designed for use by a handicapped Veteran.

The Foundation's parallel Mission is to set a new standard of how far a Non-Profit Corporation can stretch a dollar...especially since we will be relying in a large part on contributions and grant monies. This isn't a research grant to study tennis court behavior and take hard earned taxpayer money to travel around the world staying in five star hotels, eating truffles and watching tennis matches...this is about creating meaningful jobs, with therapeutic value for Disabled American Veterans. The first facility will obviously be the most difficult to set up, but once it is, and we can prove that it works, the expansion possibilities are limitless.
Click the donate page...even a couple of dollars will go a long way. Every single dollar will be spent responsibly. You can track our progress here on this website, because we will be documenting our work so that the whole world can see what the contributions are being used for.
Please tell your friends. We will be posting video on YouTube, Facebook and the like, to get news of our project to "go viral". We need every like minded person in on this. Are you one of them? Tell business owners that you may know about our commercial displays. If you are a marketing person, surely you will see the goodwill that supporting this project can muster up among your customer base.
It's time to "stop, change, and start in a new direction". This is how The Earth Tire Foundation plans to do its part.© 2009 The Earth Tire Foundation. All rights reserved. Earth Tire Designs are Patent Pending.
